Traditionally, training is something of a one-way process. However, here at Halfords, we aim to grasp the ideas of our people wholeheartedly and learn as much from them as they do from us. What's more, we want people to succeed in delivering the business agenda and make the most of their abilities. That way, we can ensure that we deliver a service that shows our customers that they are our number one priority. We do this through an approach that means that individual needs and aspirations are fully considered alongside those of our business. So we don't say that we offer training. We'd rather call it learning and development, a way in which colleagues can be proud of the knowledge and service they provide.
To do this, we encourage our people to put together a personal development plan that is focused on the key areas in which they may want to advance. It can apply to their current role or to the one they want to work towards.
As a new starter within a store, you will work with your line manager or buddy, through an induction programme. Then, you’ll be taken through the Store Training Plan that will provide you with the confidence to deliver your role to our customers and then a structured career path from Sales Adviser to Store Manager to support your personal development, should you wish.
