Sales Manager - Auto and Leisure
Job Purpose
The Sales Manager has specific accountability for growing sales and profitability within Auto and Leisure and will assume overall accountability within the Store in the absence of the Store Manager. The Sales Manager will drive Sales and KPIs and lead and manage a team. The Sales Manager will be responsible for the day to day planning and execution of operations, ensuring the compliance within the store and superior customer service is delivered.
Specific Accountabilities
Driving SALES, PROFIT & KPI Performance
- Develops and leads an effective sales culture ensuring maximum customer satisfaction and the selling of appropriate attachments and KPIs
- Maximises the use of promotions as a tool to drive sales and KPIs
- Manages daily communications to the store team to include all sales, service and task expectations
- Manages team expert knowledge to drive special orders
- Management of store Reserve and Collect on a daily basis
- Drives team sales performance using Halfords incentive and bonus schemes.
- Ensures daily and weekly targets are set and managed by store team on an individual colleague basis
- Understands trading accounts, erosions & costs and manages then accordingly
- Manage poor performance, absence and misconduct and conduct good quality investigations into poor conduct
Managing & driving “SERVICE sales
- Develops team to deliver ‘can do’ attitude for 3b’s/fitting in order to deliver great customer service
- Plan and manage colleague resource time to maximise fitting ensuring the appropriate level of fitters at peak times and effectively manage the IMI diary to enable ‘on the spot’ fits
- Proactively build a strong team culture using sales and HR tools and company bonus schemes to maximise and drive fitting KPIs sales associated tasks
- Develop a ‘right first time’ attitude within store by using HR and training tools
- Develops colleague skill base for selling service and repair / maintenance of bikes, utilising Halfords accredited programmes (IMI/Canbus/ROSPA) and ensure updated intranet skills matrix.
TASK Management
- Ensures adherence to Halfords sales and quality processes with respect to customer availability, standards and pricing.
- Manages ‘front of house’ standards including presentation, ongoing refreshment and availability and ensures that high housekeeping standards are set and maintained
- Daily and weekly task management of colleagues as appropriate and ensures HO intranet ‘to do’ list is actioned daily
- Manages timely and effective deliveries by stock and colleagues.
- Implements and manages daily and weekly recovery plans for store / department
- Manages warehouse processes and standards to ensure maximum stock management
- Carries out other tasks within the whole store, in line with responsibility as part of the store management team
- Timely and effective management and communication/update of colleague rota using Halfords Intellinet/scheduling and Payroll processes. Awareness of Payroll £’s & Hrs budgets & manages within them
- Ensures clarity amongst team colleagues in relation to management expectations, KPI and sales performance and other issues as appropriate.
- Support the Store Manager in the effective recruitment, induction, development, mentoring and coaching of high calilbre colleagues to achieve maximum performance and business results
- Ensures compliance with Halfords and statutory Health and Safety legislation and processes
