I chose the Halfords Retail Grad Scheme because of the opportunity to spend time both in store and at the Support Centre and also because of all the training, which other grad schemes do not offer.
There is no typical day as every day is different! In store not one day is the same as the next, as every day you face different challenges. However, you often spend time out of store. At least half my first month at Halfords was spent elsewhere as there’s always so much going on! So far I’ve been to the Auto Conference, where I was introduced to lots of new products, the Store Manager away day for my area, lots of training courses, and I have so much more planned for the next couple of months.

I really enjoy working at Halfords! It’s challenging but very rewarding. You never know what to expect from one day to the next, which means no day is boring.
My biggest challenge has been keeping track of what I’ve got going on each week so I definitely recommend getting a good diary!
Halfords offers so much training and development for all colleagues, with both online and face to face courses. On the Graduate Scheme you’ll get involved in all of this and more! Graduates also have both Halfords mentors and external mentors who help with everything along the way and make sure I’m doing everything necessary to keep on track of the final goal of becoming management.
For me the practical part of the role at Halfords was definitely the most daunting so I’m very proud to now be able to fit bulbs, wiper blades, batteries, roof bars and much more!
To be successful at Halfords I think you have to be driven, a team player and able to have fun!
Go for it! You will not be disappointed!
