  • Retail Apprenticeships

An Apprenticeship with Halfords offers hands-on experience, a salary, the opportunity to gain qualifications whilst you work and a fantastic career path. Supported and encouraged by your manager, an Apprenticeship Coach and colleagues, you’ll undertake:

    • A 12 month Apprenticeship – Gears 1 and Gears 2 training programme e-learning and face to face training modules.
    • Training in how to give the best ‘friendly expertise’ to each and every customer
    • A Level 2 qualification in Retail

With the Apprenticeship Team supporting and guiding you throughout, you’ll immediately begin our in-house Gears training programme which is mapped to a Retail Level 2 qualification. Depending on the hours you work you could complete this in 12 months.

Your apprenticeship covers skills, knowledge, employer rights and responsibilities, personal learning and thinking skills, and functional skills (unless you already have good Maths and English qualifications). On successful completion, we’ll look at next steps, talk about your career goals and see how Halfords can help you to achieve them.

We believe in our Apprentice scheme so much that all of our new starters get exactly the same programme of learning whether or not they are eligible to join a formal Apprenticeship programme. Our Apprentices get £4,500 invested in them in learning, get free support to develop Maths and English skills (which would cost £1,000 each at college), one-to-one coaching from an experienced Apprentice Coach, an industry recognised qualification, an ongoing career at Halfords which could result in a technical specialist or leadership role and a proven advantage for future employability. Did you know that, according to Government research, a third of all apprentices receive a promotion within a year of finishing their Programme and in their lifetime can earn £150,000 more than their non-Apprentice peers?

Along the way, you’ll enjoy some of the best working conditions and benefits in the industry, including:

    • Competitive pay
    • Performance Related Bonus and Incentives
    • Life Assurance
    • Contributory Pension Scheme
    • Enhanced maternity pay
